Hey, hello, hi! If you’ve landed on this blog post I can only assume you are either one of the following; a bride to be, a girl dreaming of her wedding plans, a member of your friends bridal party, or you just clicked the wrong link.
Either way, hello and welcome to my very first blog post. If you don’t know anything about me, my name is Natalie and I run Make Your Day, a bespoke wedding service offering beautiful packages to suit the needs of your wedding day. I specialise in stationery and cakes and started Make Your Day through my love of design and baking, marrying the two together meant I could help each couple in more ways the one.
Throughout my blogs, my aim is to share with you hints tips and tricks to help with your wedding planning, along with any insightful information I can share with you from my experience in what I must say one of the best industries to be a part of. I say that, as I write this during the middle of a pandemic and I can’t remember the last time a wedding happened! (I’ll cover the whole wedding/coronavirus thing some other time).

So a little bit of background on myself, and how I ended up working in the wonderful world of weddings. My involvement in the wedding industry began in my teenage years, working alongside some fantastic wedding caterers, in some beautiful venues in Northamptonshire & Warwickshire. I had the chance to be part of some stunning wedding days as part of the team that make things run perfectly, so the newly weds have the day of their dreams. Memories of those days have stayed with me, I saw how magical the day was to each couple, being part of the team that created that got me a little hooked! I’m sure any other supplier would agree, this is why we do what we do. To make your day perfect.
After leaving college, I went to study Interior Architecture at university in Leeds, the place I now call home, and what a place Yorkshire is. I spent a wonderful three years at university, learning so much along the way. My degree pushed my creative boundaries, design ideas and really encouraged me to think outside the box. Skills I use to this day whilst I’m designing stationery and wedding cakes with my couples, and I truly love creating something bespoke for the couples I work with.

Baking, well baking has been a childhood love of mine, something I have done as long as I can remember. Both my mother and grandmother are brilliant bakers, they have taught me many of my secret recipes and tricks I use whilst baking. But not only are they both wonderful bakers, my mother is exceptional at cake decorating, she made her own wedding cake, covered in the most beautiful handmade sugar flowers which she still has 26 years later. I guess as they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
When you reach your mid to late 20’s, you’ll find your friends are settling down, planning their lives and getting married. Some of my dearest friends have either got married in the past few years or are currently planning. That really was my stepping stone back into the wedding industry. It began by offering my services as gifts to friends, designing their wedding stationery, cakes & favours. This very quickly snowballed and made me realise how truly special being part of this industry is, so I made the decision this is where I want to be.
Helping couples daily, making their visions become reality, helping create the most magical and perfect day for each of them.
If you’ve got this far, and I’ve not bored you too much yet, I’d love to hear from you. My inbox is always open, whether you’re planning, helping or just daydreaming. Let’s chat weddings.
